Legal company to provide a voice for victims of sexual assault from ride-share services

Sexual Assault victims from ride-share services are increasing every year but there is yet to be any public data.

Every single year America seems to be less safe to live in, and less safe to travel in. 2020 was no different, as many will consider this one of the worst years they’ve ever had to go through.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic ride-share services like Uber and Lyft were expanding to new places, getting more and more users every month.

Unfortunately, cases of sexual assault from these services were also increasing alongside this steady growth, but with no public data to support it. This is where a company called LS5 Legal is looking to provide a voice for many victims who may feel isolated or alone.

In 2018 Uber released a report that stated there were more than 3,000 cases of sexual assault. Of that number 235 of them were reported to be rape.

The victims of these crimes were the riders themselves, with a majority of them being women.

If Uber and Lyft are used to bring people SAFELY from point A to point B, they should be eager to release another report showcasing that these numbers have decreased dramatically. But there has yet to be any updated report in the past 2 years on the topic.

Uber was even fined $59 million on December 15/2020 for failure to release data in a sexual assault probe that was conducted by the California Public Utilities Commission(CPUC).

Back in June 2016 there was a woman in Orlando, Florida who called for an Uber ride after a night of drinking downtown. The woman told police that she was told to get in the front seat by the driver.

An intoxicated woman who was just trying to get home from a night out was then sexually assaulted for taking the safe choice of calling an Uber. The Uber driver in question was only deactivated from the app, that’s it.

No charges were made.

For many riders that are victims of sexual assault from drivers, it almost seems pointless to report a claim to Uber, Lyft, or even the Police Department due to cases just like this.

This is where LS5 Legal steps in as they are looking to protect riders who have become a victim of sexual assault, and provide a voice for them.

A chance where they can feel safe again.

LS5 Legal is looking for victims who have been sexually assaulted or inappropriately touched by an Uber driver from 2009 – Present, or by a Lyft driver from 2012 – Present.

If there is a record of the ride when the sexual assault happened within the app’s travel history, Justice Helping Hand and their expert team of lawyers can help regardless if it happened before, during, or after the trip itself. All that’s needed is the trip receipt, driver name and the date of the incident. To bring these cases to light help future victims, consider filling out the confidential form here.
